Mamuju, West Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulbar) - A Naval base and commanding station will be built in Rangas in the regency of Mamuju, West Sulawesi, in 2014.
Chief of the Navy`s main base VI , Makassar, Commodore Arie Soedewo, who visited Mamuju on Sunday said he will discuss the plan with the regional administration.
The station to be built in Mamuju near the office of the governor will have a personnel of 150 navy officers.
The navy will also build a quay for the navy ships and a fuel filling station , Arie said.
He said the navy base in West Sulawesi would strengthen the sea defense in that region .
The plan to build the naval base followed a recent visit there by the military chief.
He hopes for support from the regional administration for the plan to build the naval base to be operational in 2014. A Saragih/A Abdussalam
