Makassar, S Sulawesi (Antaranews Sulsel) - President Joko Widodo again reminded all the military and Police personnel to remain neutral even though the local elections in 2018 was concluded.
"I as the commander in chief remind the military and police about neutrality in every political event every five years, because it has been mandated by laws," Jokowi said as he briefed thousands of village counselors at the Soldiers` Hall of General Jusuf Makassar, South Sulawesi on Sunday.
The president emphasized the importance of maintaining neutrality of military and police as part of the state security under legitimate government and arranged in the regulation.
"The military politics is state politics, the loyalty of the military is the loyalty to the state, the people and the government, so the military and the police must be faithful to the people in accordance with the law," said the former governor of Jakarta.
According to him, political and security stability is currently conducive because the military and police have been solid so that the dignity and image in the eyes f the public are good.
Nevertheless there is still a political restructuring of the Legislative Election and the Presidential Election next year, so that the neutrality of the apparatus must be maintained. Practically the public will continue to believe in the neutrality of the military and police personnel in facing the democratic party.
With solid military and police, this then inspires the people to think and will not do nothings for both inside and outside because of existing unity.
"The key is unity and cohesiveness, and this will be the key to good development in Indonesia," said the former mayor of Solo to the audience.
As for the military at this time, the public regards the military`s neutrality as in the peak, of course this should be maintained. "Don`t be instigated by small things that can ruin everything," he added.
"The public confidence in the military is now at its peak right now with the president and the anti graft body (KPK), and I hope that the trust will not be misled that cause the loss of the trust. Seeking the trust could not be judged by the money, so it must be taken care of," Jokowi said.
