Makassar (ANTARA Sulsel) - The Ministry of Public Works in 2009 provides more than Rp900 billion for the construction of two dams in South Sulawesi, rehabilitate the irrigation of rice fields, ponds, coasts and Lake Tempe.

The construction of the Karaloe dam in Jeneponto regency and a dam in Ponre-ponre, Bone regency, will be started this year with State Budget funds amounting to hundreds of billions of rupiah, and the rehabilitation of a number of rice fields and fish ponds at a cost of more than Rp300 billion, Director General of Water Resources at the Ministry of Public Works Iwan Nursiwan said here Tuesday.

he projects are aimed at boosting rice production in the province.
