Makassar, S Sulawesi0 (ANTARA News) - Prof Dr Achmad Ali of Hasanuddin University passed away at Pendidikan Hospital here, Sunday.

"He passed away at the hospital," Sakka Pati, a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, the University of Hasanuddin said.

Born on November 9, 1952, Prof Ali, an expert in law sociology, was known as a columnist and modest professor who was close to his students.

Faisal Abdullah, an expert staff of the sports and youth affairs minister and a relative to Prof Ali, said Ali died of complications of diseases.

Prof Ali was a member of the Human Rights Commission, and a candidate of the country's attorney general.
