Sorowako, South Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - Ten Indonesian teachers participated in The Regional Innovative Teachers' Conference (RITC) for Asia and the Pacific, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, May 27-29, 2009.

The RITC 2009 was sponsored by Microsoft, Nuryadi, an elementary school teacher of Sorowako who participated in the conference, said here on Tuesday.

The conference was attended by teachers from Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the Philippines, he said. Indonesia was one of the countries which sent most participants in the conference, he said.

Nuryadi said he learned a lot from the experiences of participants from other countries during the meeting.

"For instance, we learned how to integrate the information and communication technology (ICT) in the learning process optimally and we also got knowledge on the computer unlimited potential. We could learn how to create a method of 'Teach Less, Learn More (TLLM) in school," he said.

Microsoft organized the 5th Regional Innovative Teachers Conference (RITC) for the first time in Malaysia to equip students and teachers with ICT knowledge to be participative global citizens

The RITC 2009 was aimed at empowering students to critically examine real world issues and phenomena.

The conference was held also in cooperation with Malaysia's minister of education, UNESCO Asia Pacific and TakingITGlobal.

Themed "Empower, Enact, Engage: Becoming Agents of Change", this year's conference also aimed to identify the value and need for the rich and complex processes of learning for engagement.
