Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - Garuda Indonesia expects its load factor to reach 100 percent in the upcoming peak season of traveling in the country in June.

The airline company`s vice president for East Indonesia Region, Rosyinah, said here on Saturday the present load factor is recorded at 80 percent.

"We hope in the peak season it would reach 100 percent or minimally 85 to 90 percent," she said.

In her speech at the opening of the Garuda Indonesia Travel Fair (GATF) she said the company plans to add 24 new planes to its fleet to strengthen flight routes from the hub in Makassar, seven of them to be stationed in Makassar.

New routes will also be opened such as to Tanjung Pandang, Tanjung Pinang, Penang, Manokwari, Berau, Mamuju and Brisbane, she said.

This was the fifth national event and the third in Makassar held to show Garuda`s support to tourism development in Indonesia and to facilitate people to get interesting and affordable tourism packages.

Fourteen travel agencies took part in the GATF this year which is expected to raise Rp6 billion worth of transactions. "Hopefully it will surpass the target," she addied.

Last year`s transactions were recorded at Rp5.5 billion higher than the target set at Rp4 billion.

Among offers made at the event are a discount of up to 15 percent for domestic air fares and up to 20 percent for overseas air fares as well as "ramadhan" (Islamic fasting month) and other "best deal" promotion offers.

The GATF 2013 road show consists of three phases with the first one held in Makassar, Yogyakarta, Manado, Surabaya and Padang (April 26 to 28), followed in Bandung, Medan, Denpasar, Balikpapan and Semarang (May 17-19) and in Pontianak, Pekanbaru, Palembang, Banjarmasin and Jayapura (May 31-June 2).
