Mamuju, W Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulbar) - State-owned cement company PT Semen Tonasa is building a packing plant with a capacity of 300 thousand tons in Belang Belang port area, Mamuju District, West Sulawesi, its President Director Unggul Attas said.

"Semen Tonasa is building the plant in the port area on a 7,800 sq meter site in cooperation with PT Latanindo Graha Persana," Attas said during the inauguration ceremony of the construction of the packing plant here on Thursday.

He said that the plant was built at a cost of Rp100 billion and was expected to be completed in one year.

The construction of the packing plant project is to meet demand for cement in West Sulawesi and to ensure that cement deliveries in the region would not be late.

He said that demand for cement in West Sulawesi was high so that PT Semen Tonasa which was based on South Sulawesi`s pangkep District, decided to build the plant in West Sulawesi.

"PT Semen Tonasa which is able to produce 5.9 million tons per annum will meet the demand for cement in West Sulawesi," Atta said. A Abdussalam/Fardah Assegaf
