Mamuju, W Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulbar) - Tens of houses were damaged by whirlwind that hit Mamunyu hamlet, some five kilometers north of Mamuju, on Monday.
"Bad weather with strong wind hit the area on Monday starting at 6 pm local time. Our personnel are now in the field to see the condition of victims of the disaster," Chairman of the West Sulawesi Disaster Mitigation Agency Darno Madjid said here on Monday evening.
Incessant heavy rains in Mamunyu could trigger floods and landslides, he added.
There were no reports of casualties in the disaster. The material losses were estimated to reach hundreds of million rupiahs. Fardah Assegaf
