Makassar, S.Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - Three students from the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) will participate in the Inventors` Day competition in Thailand, Vice Rector III of UMI Herwin stated here on Friday.

He noted that Restuan Lubis, Aprilia Fatma Ely, and Muhammad Subhan are the three students from the Pharmacy Faculty who will be in Thailand, on February 2-5.

Aprilia remarked that that the event will be the second competition for her after having bagged a gold medal for Indonesia in Taiwan in the previous event.

The Inventors` Day in Thailand is being organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT).

"We have been selected by the national committee before going to the international level competition after explaining about our innovative idea," Aprilia stated.

The selection process was organized between December 2014 and January 2015, and a total of 2.5 thousand research proposals were evaluated.

The NRCT has also invited the university to participate in the competition as a follow-up to the Kaohsiung International Invention Exhibition in Taiwan that was held in December 2014.

"We won a special award from the Thai government for our research in creating an anti-obesity candy named Abracadabra Slim Candy," Aprilia claimed.
