Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - The South Sulawesi branch of the National Committee for Palestinian People (KNRP) has set a target to raise over Rp2 billion in funds for the people of Palestine, stated KNRP Chairman Mujetaba.

"We hope that through the fund-raising activities in Makassar, South Sulawesi, we can collect more than Rp2 billion for our brothers and sisters in Palestine," Mujetaba stated here on Wednesday.

He noted that the KNRP will raise funds to help ease the misery of Palestinian people and to build public opinion that all men are required to provide assistance to each other.

"The Palestinian people are also our brothers and sisters. We are obliged to provide financial and moral assistance to them," Mujetaba remarked.

Further, he urged all public elements, local government and private institutions, mass organizations, benefactors, and donors to channel their aid through the Bank Syariah Mandiri account number 7083502667.

According to him, the KNRP plans to hold a humanitarian concert at the Celebes Convention Center in Makassar to raise funds for Palestine on February 22, 2015.

Besides, Mujetaba affirmed that ten mosques in Makassar have also agreed to donate the money collected in their charity boxes during the Friday prayers for the people of Palestine.

"These ten mosques are ready to donate the money from their charity boxes, and then we will send the funds to the KNRP central office in Jakarta that will be forwarded to Palestine," he noted.

Makassar Mayor Mohammad Ramdhan Pomanto stated that he positively supported the KNRP`s efforts and will issue circular letters to the public and other mosques to raise funds without coercion. Fardah Assegaf
