Makassar, S. Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - The Tunisian Ambassador to Indonesia, Mourad Belhassen, has invited businessmen from Indonesia`s South Sulawesi province to invest in his country, especially in infrastructure projects.

"We will organize an international business meeting in November and invite investors from various countries," the ambassador announced here on Tuesday.

He hoped the provincial administration will send a business delegation to Tunisia to study the potential of cooperation between the two sides.

Belhassen explained that Tunisia is currently on the path of an economic recovery after the political transition that happened some time ago.

Therefore, Tunisia, he pointed out, needs a lot of foreign investment to help the country build infrastructural facilities, such as roads and hospitals.

"Tunisia has invested in the textile industry in Java, and tourism in Bali. In the future, we hope there will be more Indonesian investments in Tunisia," the ambassador observed.

Tunisia has offered a number of incentives to potential investors, including tax waivers and the facility to plough back earnings to the original country in full.

"Tunisia has also signed trade agreements with many European and African countries, so that when businessmen open a factory in Tunisia, the products can enter the European and African markets easily," Belhassen informed.

Another advantage of investing in Tunisia is the availability of a huge qualified workforce. Many workers have a diploma education, especially in agriculture, tourism and industry.

Meanwhile, the South Sulawesi Governor, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, welcomed the invitation of the Ambassador of Tunisia.

According to the governor, South Sulawesi and Tunisia today are passing through the same phase as both require a lot of investment in infrastructure.

"We need more intensive communication, and it is possible for both sides to learn from each other," the governor underlined.
