Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - P&O Pacific Eden cruise ship from Australia called at the port of Makassar of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi on Sunday carrying 1,403 tourists.

"Of the total 200 will visit Bantimurung tourism park in the district of Maros and Balla Lampoa in the district of Gowa" acting general manager of PT Pelindo II Makassar chapter Yosef Benny Rohy said the British flagged ship with 607 crew on board led by Captain Pears Gavin Fanhuan arrived in Makassar after calling at Komodo island in East Nusa Tenggara province.

The ship would proceed to Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara this afternoon before going to Probolinggo and Benoa, Bali, which is its final destination.

Yosef said the arrival of the cruise ship would support the development of the tourism sector in South Sulawesi.

Since January 2016 three cruise shios have called at the port of Makassar and by the end of this year, 12 ships are expected to come to Makassar.

"The number will double that of 2015," Yosef said.
