Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - The Makassar prosecution office said it is collecting evidence on irregularities in the transfer of ownership of state land property to a private owner in Bumi Perkemahan Cadika, sub-district of Biringkanaya.

"We are still waiting for documents of the transfer of ownership from the Makassar city administration before we take steps," head of the Makassar prosecution office Deddy Suwardy Surachman said here on Saturday.

Deddy said his team of investigators is working to collect relevant data and information needed for the investigation and determine who were responsible for transferring the ownership of the land.

He said he suspected the involvement of certain officials in slashing the size of the land appropriated for scouts` camping ground in Bumi Cadika from nine hectares to only two hectares.

"Not enough evidence available yet. We need more to step up investigations," he said.

Seven hectares of the lands have changed in ownership to a private company, which plans to build a housing complex there.

Originally the land for scouts` camping ground was nine hectares but the city council found lately the land has been reduced in size to two hectares.

"The city council found that seven hectares of the land had been sold to a housing developer," Deddy said.

Now there are only two hectares remaining for scouting activities, he said.

Former officials of the Kelurahan of Bulurokeng nand the sub-district of Biringkanaya were suspected of playing the role of brokers in the process of selling the land.

"We will investigate and we will know who were involved in the illegal sales of the land. We already have a team to investigate this case," he said.

He said he was only awaiting words from his superior to start the investigation.

As soon as the guidelines have been given we will start work of collecting data and information to back up further legal investigation, he said.
