Makassar, S. Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - Fourteen countries will be participating in an art event called Makassar International Eight Festival and Forum, better known as F8, on September 8-10, 2016.

"So far, 14 countries have confirmed their participation and we are in touch with them," the Mayor of Makassar, Moh Ramdhan Pomanto, stated here on Monday.

He described F8 as a collaborative event of local and foreign artists who can introduce their cinematographic works to the world community.

This international festival will showcase a variety of films, food, fashion, music, folklore, jazz fusion, fine art and fiction from various circles in Makassar. This event is targeted to be a spectacular show at par with world level norms.

Foreign artists participating in the event will be from Norway, Georgia, Peru, Australia, Japan, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, India, Mongolia, the United States, Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam.

"The event is a grand stage for artists, filmmakers, authors, community clubs, and others engaged in art to display their works for the whole world to view," the mayor noted.

According to him, F8 will be more rousing than other events held in Makassar as the festival will witness the participation of foreign guests from 20 countries, including Australia, Mongolia, Norway, India, the Netherlands, Georgia, Peru, Switzerland and Sri Lanka.

"The US consulate general has included the event in its regular agenda," the mayor informed.
