Makassar, S Sulawesi (Antara Sulsel) - Construction of the Middle Ring Road project in Makassar has been 40 percent completed, the National Road Executive Agency (BBPJN) said.

Amin Hamid, a senior official of the agency said by the end of this year 1.2 kilometers of the 7.09 kilometer ring road should be completed.

Construction of the ring road is to be carried out in two phases with the first phase 3.05 kilometers already under contract. The second phase 4.04 kilometer long is yet to be put in tender to find the contractor.

The agency has a budget of Rp75 billion for the project this year. Next year the budget is Rp70.6 billion.

The budget for the project since 2015 to 2018 would total Rp174.78 billion from the state budget.

South Sulawesi Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo said he hoped the project could be completed as scheduled.

The governor said the project would serve as a pilot project for middle ring road projects in eastern Indonesia," he said.
