Makassar, S. Sulawesi (Antara Sulsel) - Hasanuddin University in Makassar, South Sulawesi Province, is hosting the 4th Trilateral University Roundtable Meeting (TURM) on July 10-12, 2017, that brings together universities from Indonesia, Australia, and Timor Leste.

Hasanuddin University`s spokesman, Ishaq Rahman, stated here on Tuesday that the TURM is an annual forum for holding meetings and dialog to enhance cooperation among universities from Australia, Indonesia, and Timor Leste.

The TURM was first initiated in 2013 by leaders of the three countries and several university leaders.
Annually, TURM organizes a meeting to strengthen the Center of Excellence of each university within the framework of collaboration and cooperation.

Over 30 academicians from universities in Australia, Indonesia, and Timor Leste are participating in the 4th TURM meeting at the Hasanuddin University in Makassar. This year`s meeting is aimed at increasing the level of cooperation, from a dialog-based forum to a more robust consortium.

At the panel session, Hasanuddin University`s Rector Professor Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu gave a speech on marine science and fisheries, while Vice-Chancellor of the Charles Darwin University, Australia, Professor Sue Carthew spoke about the environment.

Meanwhile, Rector of the University of Nusa Cendana Professor Fredrik L. Benu delivered a speech on dryland agriculture and environment, while Rector of the University of Sam Ratulangi Professor Sunarpi presented a topic on climate change and resilience.

Other topics, such as health and medical science as well as tourism and culture, were presented by Udayana University`s Rector Professor Ketut Suastika, while Rector of the Gadjah Mada University Professor Panut Mulyono spoke about disaster management and resilience.
