Makassar, S Sulawesi (Antaranews Sulsel) - Exports of all main commodities of South Sulawesi rose 60.61 percent in December, 2017 from the previous month, the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said.

Head of the South Sulawesi office of BPS Nursam Salam said in December, 2017, exports were valued at US$122.06 million, up from US$76 million in the previous month.

Demand for the main commodities of South Sulawesi grew, Nursam said here on Monday, adding meanwhile imports of certain commodities declined.

He said exports of nickel were valued at US$90.69 million in December, up from only US$44.24 million in November in 2017. Nickel is the main export earner for the province.

Other main export commodities of the province include oily grains and medicinal herbs worth in exports at US$12.97 million in December, up from US$10.81 million in November 2017.

He said nickel accounts for around 74.3 percent of the province`s total export earning in December, 2017.
