Makassar, S Sulawesi (Antaranews Sulsel) - The Faculty of Industrial Technology of the Muslim University of Indonesia (FTI-UMI) of Makassar, South Sulawesi Province, has been selected to host the "International Coaching Week" to be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018.
"Thank God, we have been again selected to host international activities, and of course ,this is due to the climate and positive image of this university and city," Dean of FTI UMI of Makassar Zakir Sabara noted here on Friday.
He stated that the international gathering of coaches, or the International Chacha Federation (ICF) of Jakarta Chapter, is a series of activities undertaken in seven major cities of Indonesia.
ICF of Jakarta chose FTI UMI to ensure the success of the event along with big cities in Indonesia, including Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, and Malang.
Sabhara explained that coaching is a communication process that helps a coach bring out the best potential of those being coached.
"Coaching can make a person more empowered and aware and develop a higher understanding to his goals," he remarked.
With regard to cooperation in the field of education, in this case the FTI-UMI, Psychologist Fauziah Sulfitri stated that the ICF welcomes this method, as it is important for the lecturers.
Currently, lecturers have to teach different generations that cannot be directed and commanded.
"This training will help students to become more independent and empower them to achieve their academic goals," she revealed.
Sabhara added that it is difficult to understand students today, as they belong to the millennial generation, which is unique.
The training method will help lecturers to develop a deeper understanding of the students` dynamics and thinking and to also empower them without giving instructions.
"The ICF aims to socialize and educate the public, corporate world, academic world, and all social levels of coaching," he added.
