Makassar, S Sulawesi (Antaranews Sulsel) - Commander of the main Naval Base VI (Danlantamal VI), Air Commodore Dwi Sulaksono, has helped step up the spirit of the upcoming 18th Asian Games by presiding over a special meeting on the planned torch relay.

"The Asian Games torch relay, which is very important to boost the spirit of the Asian Games, will be held in several cities in Indonesia, including Makassar," Sulaksono said here on Wednesday.

During the meeting held with other top officials, he asked all the ranks to prepare well.

Sulaksono stated that all Lantamal VI committees should prepare well and coordinate with the Navy`s headquarters and South Sulawesi Provincial Government in connection with the arrival of the Asian Games XVIII 2018 torch in Makassar.

"The point is to coordinate well with all headquarters, South Sulawesi Provincial Government, and other committees," he noted.

According to him, the flame torch will be brought to Makassar by the legendary ship belonging to the Navy, namely the warship "KRI Dewaruci."

Before arriving in Makassar, the torch relay was carried from Bira in Bulukumba District to Layang Pier of the Naval Base VI Command and is expected to arrive on Sunday (July 29), Sulaksono remarked, adding that the traditional boats parade, fishermen, and jetsky will accompany the torch relay in Makassar.

In addition, the Navy chief of staff (KASAL) Admiral, Siwi Sukma Adji, and other top officials are expected to be present at the 2018 Asian Games torch receiving event in Makassar.

Around 16 thousand athletes from 45 countries will participate in the 18th Asian Games, to be co-hosted by Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra Province.

In the meantime, the District Head of Sleman in the Special Province of Yogyakarta received the Asian Games flame at the courtyard of Ratu Boko Temple in Prambanan of Sleman District on Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier, the flame of the 18th Asian Games was brought by members of the Asian Games organizing committee (INASGOC) from the central museum of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) of "Dirgantara Mandala." Upon arrival at Ratu Boko Temple complex, it was welcomed by "Bregodo troop."
