Makassar, S. Sulawesi, Dec 22 (ANTARA News) - Incumbent President Joko Widodo, who is seeking reelection in April, 2019, promised that urban village (kelurahan) fund would be disbursed immediately in January 2019.
The government has provided a budget of Rp3 trillion for 8,122 Kelurahan, the lowest level of government administration, all over the country.
Kelurahan funds are similar to village funds, which total Rp70 trillion in 2019 to finance development of infrastructure in village areas.
"Only two weeks away and we will distribute the Kelurahan funds all over Indonesia," the President said here on Saturday.
Village funds have been included in the state budget in the past four years, but the budget for Kelurahan funds is available for the first time in 2019 .
The opposition has protested as the Kelurahan funds came in "political year" although the Kelurahan fund is cut from the village funds.
