Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - Two Australian Navy warships, HMAS Success and HMAS Arunta, docked at Soekarno-Hatta Port, Makassar, Friday.

The naval ships, with a crew of more than 400 men, will be in Makassar for three days from Sept 24 to 27.

The Commanding Officer of HMAS Success, Commander Antony Rayner said the Makassar visit was one of a South Asia tour.

The crew members would take part in social and professional events with their Indonesian counterparts to strengthen the relations between the two countries.

"This is a friendly visit as The Australian and Indonesian navies have established emotional and professional relationship for many years," he said.

The crew members of the Australian naval vessels were delighted during the friendly visit as Indonesia, especially Makassar was known as a maritime basis, and also famous for its natural beauty.

The Australian navy ships were welcomed in a ceremony and entertained in S Sulawesi traditional art performances by the Indonesian Navy with the Tourism and Cultural Office of Makassar.
