Rantepao, S Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - The Toraja Utara education office in South Sulawesi gives a positive response to developing an environmental curriculum for every school in the district.

"Environmentally based-education is good for every school in Toraja Utara district," local education office spokesman Gagah Sumule said here on Sunday.

He said such curriculum was important for the younger generation to promote their understanding about the importance of environmental preservation, starting from the smallest to most trivial things.

According to Gagah Sumule, the curriculum was very relevant to the environmental condition of Toraja Utara district.

"The study about the environment covers from the theory which has yet to be applied to all schools in the district," he said.

He said most of the schools had carried out a civic mission to serve the environment but periodically only.

With regard to the curriculum, Mataram University (Unram) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is working on a curriculum, not for the environment but to eradication corruption.

Unram rector Prof Sunarpi said in Mataram on Sunday that the curriculum would be applied to the students in a bid to support corruption eradication efforts.

"We design the anti corruption curriculum after an agreement had been reached with a Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) official who visited the university campus several days ago," Sunarpi said.

But he admitted that the technical application of the anti corruption curriculum was not clear because it had to be further discussed.

He added however that such a curriculum would later become part of the system of education at the University of Mataram.

According to Sunarpi, a subject on anti corruption in the curriculum would be given not only to the students of the law faculty but to all the students at the university.(H-NG/S012)
