Takalar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - A whirlwind hit three sub districts, which were being inundated by floods, in Takalar District, South Sulawesi, on Thursday.

Some 54 houses in Polongbangkeng Selatan (Polsel), Pattallassang and Polongbangkeng Utara sub districts were seriously damaged by the strong wind.

Polsel sub district was the worst whirlwind-affected with 50 houses were damaged, namely at Panaikang and Lantang Rua villages. In Polut sub district, three houses were damaged and one in Patallassang sub district.

The disaster which did not claim any live in Takalar, inflicted material losses worth a total of Rp200 million.

In Boyolali, Central Java, strong wind and heavy downpours damaged and collapsed a number of houses, but there was no fatalities in the disaster.

The whirlwind hit Ampel, Musuk, and Cepogo sub districts in Boyolali on Thursday afternoon. The whirlwind uprooted many big trees.

Heavy rains fell in the area and followed by strong wind, Adi Hermanto, a local official of Ampel sub district, said here on Friday.

At Seboto village, Ampel, three houses were collapsed, three others were seriously damaged and tens of others were slightly damaged in the disaster.
