Makassar (ANTARA News) - Indian Navy personnel were reported to have arrived in Makassar on Saturday morning (Mar 10) for a close look at tourism objects in the city before proceeding to some other Asian countries.
"The Indian warship, INS Ranjit (D53), was warmly welcomed by the Makassar Tourism Agency while at the same time introducing tourism destinations to them," head of the Makassar Navy Information Service Major Darmawangsa said here on Saturday.
The tourism objects they will visit included Losari Beach, Rotterdam Fort and Somba Opu Fort in Gowa regency, the National Park Waterfall in Maros regency and the gold trading area.
This visit is expected to increase the relations between the Indonesian and Indian Navies and also serve as volunteers to promote Indonesian tourism objects, especially those in South Sulawesi.
Commander of INS Ranjit (D53) Captain Punit Chadda also expressed happiness when his ship docked at Hatta Port in Makassar especially for the local people's kind welcome.
Head of the the Makassar Pariwisata Tourism Office Rusmayani Madjid said he was very happy as the visit was made under a military cooperation and to promote Makassar.
"We hope many more foreigners would visit Indonesia, Makassar especially, because South Sulawesi has so many interesting places and the visit of the Indian Navy hopefully will covers all segments," he said.(H-NG//E002)
