Mamuju, W Sulawesi(ANTARA Sulsel) - West Sulawesi governor Anwar Adnan Saleh said plan by Chinese investors to build an arterial road in the regency of Mamuju of West Sulawesi has been cancelled.

"For a number of reasons the plan to build an arterial road in the regency of Mamuju by the Chinese investors has been cancelled," Anwar said not specific about the reason.

The 102-kilometer road project will be built with fund from the central government, he said here on Thursday, he said.

The central government through the National Road Development Planning Board has approved fund for the project from the state budget, he said.

Construction of the 30-meter wide road , to link the sub-district of Tapalang and the Mamuju airport, will cost around Rp500 billion .

The central government will soon send a team to carry out feasibility study of the project along the coastal area, he said.

The government, however, has yet to change the function of part of land of protected forests to be used for the project . ***3*** (AS/a014)
