Makassar (ANTARA) - On March 20, 2023, Mary Trechock, an assistant cultural affairs officer from the United States Embassy in Jakarta, visited Hasanuddin University's International Office (IO UNHAS).
Ms. Trechock was accompanied by Yoana Wida Kristiawati, Emerging Voice Exchanges and Alumni Coordinator, and Chendani Budhi, EducationUSA Indonesia Manager.
This visit was received directly by Andi Masyitha Irwan, Ph.D., Head of IO UNHAS, who was accompanied by Muhammad Ridwan, M.A., Secretary of IO UNHAS, Jamaluddin Fitrah Alam, Ph.D., KUI Task Force, and other staff.
Many things were discussed during this visit, including how the Embassy, through Education USA, could help UNHAS students who would qualify for the IISMA 2023 scholarship and choose universities in the United States. Assistance is provided in the form of communication and registration to the university that UNHAS students wish to attend.
Ms. Chendani was willing to take the time required when UNHAS students register at these universities.

Another thing that was discussed was the opportunity for UNHAS to expand its partnership through participation in NAFSA, one of the largest educational exhibitions in the United States. Through NAFSA, UNHAS would interact with various universities there. UNHAS' participation in NAFSA was under coordination with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology so that the stands and booths would look like Indonesia and not just one university.
On this occasion also, Ms. Masyitha explained that IO UNHAS had held the 5th International Cultural Program (ICP) in 2023, and in June 2023, IO UNHAS would carry out the same activity again for the sixth batch.
The head of IO UNHAS hoped that American students could participate in ICP 2023. Ms. Trechock also welcomed the program book from ICP to be sent to her to be distributed at various universities in the United States.
The Head of IO UNHAS showed a newsletter that reported on activities related to the United States, such as the presentation by Ms. Chendani on tips for writing motivational letters.
The USAID HEPI would carry out its program for 5 years related to Cores 1 and 2 to increase the capacity and competence of lecturers and Core 3 to increase students' critical thinking and work opportunities when completing their degree in the future.
This visit ended with the exchange of souvenirs, the IO itself provided the July-October and November 2022 editions of the Newsletter and the US Embassy handed over several merchandise such as notebooks, scarves etc.
