Makassar (ANTARA) - Ending the year of 2023, the International Office of Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) held the Geography Series (G-Series) featuring the Republic of Bangladesh. The G-Series presented Muh. Shahidul Islam, a Bangladeshi studying at the Faculty of Public Health (FKM).
The event was carried out on November 29, 2023 at the ballroom of Lembaga Penjaminan Mutu dan Pengembangan Pendidikan (LPMPP) or the Institute of Quality Assurance and Educational Development. The event was attended by more than 100 UNHAS international and local students.
In his presentation, Shahidul described his country from a variety of different issues such as its history, culture, food and beverages, economic sectors, religion and educational system. He also expressed his feeling that there has been a strong relationship between Indonesia and Bangladesh. Therefore, his family supports him to pursue his undergraduate degree at UNHAS.

Meanwhile, representing the IO, Kumara Tungga Dewa, S.S. explained that the G-Series is held monthly aiming to increase our students' cultural awareness and understanding between our international and local students. In addition, Mr. Kumara described that UNHAS is now going to be a World Class University (WCU).
As a result, cultural differences are unavoidable. Therefore, the IO approaches through introducing the country of origin from our international students. Moreover, one of the participants named St. Nur Afiah Mujahidah Thamrin, student from Faculty of Cultural Sciences expressed her impression regarding this G-Series.

She said that she might have been able to find out about any country and learn about it through Google but meeting the real student through this event has been much more beneficial for me.
