Makassar (ANTARA) - Diplomats Go to Campus (DGtC) was a celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Indonesia- United States of America (USA) Diplomatic Relationship. It was held on Monday, April 29, 2024 from 10 Central Indonesia Time (CIT) at the Senate Room, 2nd Floor, Rectorate Building, Hasanuddin University (UNHAS).
The event was conducted under the collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Republic of Indonesia, the US Embassy, and the International Office (IO), UNHAS. The DGtC began with the opening ceremony with Master of Ceremony (MC) Netalen Priscela (IO Student Volunteer).
The opening remark was started by Iwan Freddy Hari Susanto (Director of American Affairs 1, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia), then followed by Jonathan Alan (The US Consul General in Surabaya). The welcoming remark was delivered by Andi Masyitha Irwan, Ph.D (Head of IO) and officially opened the DGtC. After the opening, the talk show continued and was moderated by Dr. Kadaruddin (Task Force for International Program).
There were three speakers in the talk show including Adde Anindyawati Sugiharto (Mid-career Diplomat, Directorate American Affairs 1), John McDaniel (Political and Economic Chief, US Consulate General in Surabaya), and Prof. Darwis, M.A (Head of International Relation Study Program, UNHAS).
The talk show was attended by the academic community mainly from UNHAS and neighbouring universities, approximately 200 in total. The talk show also presented the quiz for all participants through Mentimeter. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the US embassy rewarded merchandise to any participants who provide a correct answer during the quiz. The talk show ended and was followed by a mini-education exhibition.
The exhibition presented three booths; American Indonesian Exchange Foundation (AMINEF), UNHAS International Office, and Education USA (edUSA). The booths were visited by the participants who enquired lots of questions regarding continuing study in the US.
In the IO booth itself, the student volunteers welcomed the students who were eager to know more about the IO and its programs and activities. The IO provided merchandise as well for the participants who could answer the questions provided, The DGtC was successfully implemented with the support from all parties.
