Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - Some 60 mayors from ASEAN member countries are set to attend a three-day meeting of ASEAN Mayor Forum (AMF) which will open on Tuesday (Sept 8) in the South Sulawesi provincial capital of Makassar.

"By today, 39 mayors and vice mayors from ASEAN member states have expressed their readiness to attend the meeting. By tomorrow 60 mayors from ASEAN member states are expected to confirm their attendance," Makassar Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto said here on Sunday.

He said several governors from other countries will also attend the meeting. "Six governors from friendly countries have confirmed their attendance in the AMF meeting. Meanwhile, 68 mayors and vice mayors from all over Indonesia have confirmed a plan to attend the meeting while 18 others have not," he said.

The meeting will take place at Sheraton Hotel at Landak Baru Street and Losari Pavilion in Makassar City at Penghibur Street, he said.

The agenda of the meeting at Sheraton Hotel is Makassar Investment Forum (MIF), while the agenda of the meeting at Losari Pavilion is ASEAN Community Week, he said.

The MIF 2015 is the main agenda of AMF which serves as a forum to discuss a wide range of problems prior to the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by the end of this year, he said.

"In the MIF agenda the mayors will discuss and formulate their common stance on the MEA, with district heads as observers and governors as steering officials," he said.
