Makassar, S.Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - Hasanuddin University (Makassar, South Sulawesi province) has proposed that two Science Techno Parks be established in the districts of Enrekang and Takalar.

"We have proposed that the Seaweed Science and Techno Park be developed in Takalar and the local Cattle Science and Techno Park be developed in Enrekang," the University Rector, Prof. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, said here Thursday.

The Director General of Innovation Strengthening, Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education, Jumain Appe, said the government plans to develop the Science and Techno Park based on local resources.

"Hasanuddin University can play a role in the development of Science and Techno Park, for example, in Bantaeng, Takalar, Polman, and Makassar," he said.

Moreover, he said, South Sulawesi has abundant marine resources which can be developed in keeping with the government`s vision and mission.

According to Appe, the development of Science and Techno Park should not be only about development of physical infrastructure, but also about managing these facilities.

"The most important objective is the development of local communities by means of knowledge and technology through universities, industry, and the community, so as to develop innovation-based industries," he explained.

The Science Techno Park can also be used by universities and schools to integrate education, market and industry, which, in turn, can become a teaching industry, Appe added.
