Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - State owned oil and gas company Pertamina plans to open more supply points for Pertalite in Makassar to meet growing demand for its new gasoline product in that region.

The number of consumers of Pertalite has increased from day to day in South Sulawesi, said Taufiqurrahman, Pertamina`s spokesman in that region.

Pertalite is a non subsidized gasoline with octane content of 90 higher in price compared with subsidized Premium gasoline but cheaper than Pertamax with octane content of 92.

Currently distribution center for Pertalite in that region is only in the city of Pare Pare, Taufiqurrahman said here on Wednesday.

The supplying capacity of the supply point in Pare Pare is 2,500 kiloliters for distribution to a number of areas including Luwu and Palopo, he said.

Therefore, more supply points are considered to facilitate distribution of Pertaline demand for which has continued to rise since it was first introduced in the market in September , he said.

Distribution of Pertalite totaled 420 kiloliters per week in the first phase doubling to 840 kiloliters in the second phase, he said.

Sales of Pertalite recorded by a number of gas filling stations (SPBU) reached 60-70 kiloliters per day in Makassar or other districts in South Sulawesi, he said.

"The number of SPBUs for Pertalite has increased to 42 units from 39 units in South Sulawesi," he said.

He said Pertamina will expand its market coverage to increase sales of Pertalite all over Sulawesi with target that 360 SPBUs including 170 units in South Sulawesi would sell the non subsidized oil fuel.

"We will see that all units of SPBU would sell Pertalite or build additional tanks specially for Pertalite," he added.
