Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - South Sulwesi will organize the Seventh Takabonerate Island Expedition in Selayar Islands District, on November 25-26, 2015, particularly to challenge deep sea fishing lovers.
"We will organize a number of interesting activities including a fishing contest," Devo Khaddafi, head of the promotion and marketing section of the South Sulawesi tourism office, said here, Thursday.
The annual Takabonerate expedition is aimed at attracting tourists to visit the province and at improving the welfare of local community, particularly in Selayar Islands District.
In addition to the fishing competition, other activities include a diving into unexplored Takabonerate waters, a traditional boat race, a beach volley competition, an undersea photo contest, an adventure in Takabonerate national park, a release of baby turtles, and a traditional art and cultural performance.
The South Sulawesi authorities also organized a Celebes Travel Mart (CTM) in Makassar, on November 17 to 20, 2015.
Some 60 domestic and foreign buyers joined the travel mart.
South Sulawesi is hoping to attract more foreign tourists particularly from Malaysia and Singapore as there are direct flights from Makassar to those neighboring countries.
Middle East is also a potential tourism market for South Sulawesi`s tourism, he added.
