Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - The nation`s flag carrier PT Garuda Indonesia has won the Indonesia Green Company 2015 award, its third so far from SWA Network since 2013.
The airline won the award thanks mainly to its consistency in preserving the environment, its Operation Director Capt. Novianto Herupratomo said here on Monday.
Novianto said the publicly traded airline has a number of programs as part of its commitment to become a "Green Company" to maintain a healthy environment.
"Amid the growing environmental sensitivity the commitment to nature becomes a mandatory for Garuda," he said.
The jury for the Indonesia Green Company Awards 2015, which was headed by former minister for the environment Prof. Dr. Emil Salim, gave the highest rate for Garuda Indonesia in 3 of 4 dimension of ratings - in CEO commitment, compliance and concept and strategy formulated and applied, steps in implementation and sustainability program of company .
Indonesia Green Company Award 2015 contests have been held four times since 2012 and Gruda won in three successive years.
Garuda also was also considered to have succeeded in operation as an earth-friendly enterprise , for adopting policies & principles to turn out products and services contributing to environment conservation.
