Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - The Dutch government through its embassy in Jakarta is exploring cooperation with the South Sulawesi provincial city of Makassar, particularly in the maritime sector.

"Makassar has a lot of potential and we hope we can cooperate and invest in this city," the Head of the Economic Section of the Dutch Embassy in Indonesia, Tess Van Zee, said through an interpreter at the residence of the mayor of Makassar, Moh Ramdhan Pomanto, on Friday.

Two-thirds of Makassar territory is ocean and therefore Van Zee said the city is very suitable for developing maritime results, according to Pomanto.

Makassar has plenty of resources in the fields of fisheries, energy, and agriculture.

In addition, the city also has a lot of Dutch heritage that has still survived for the past few centuries.

"Makassar has everything from the sea, agriculture and energy," Van Zee remarked.

Meanwhile, Makassar with its potential has become a magnet for other investors from Southeast Asia, Europe and the United States, Pomanto said.
