Makassar (ANTARA Sulsel) - South Sulawesi Province has won the Indonesia`s Attractiveness Award 2016, based on four categories of merit: investment, infrastructure, tourism, and public services.

"In the current global economic downturn, Indonesia can attract investment from the outside, and this is represented by the Indonesia`s Attractiveness Award," Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara remarked when conferring the award on South Sulawesi in Jakarta on Thursday night.

Rudiantara stated that the four categories measured by Frontier Consulting Group had high interdependence, and therefore, it is certain that the regional government that wins this award will have a large financial sector and strong e-leadership.

He said areas with a large financial sector can direct government spending toward capital spending, so that infrastructure development can attract investment and become successful.

E-leadership, he explained, is the hallmark of a regional head who is able to make the region attractive for investment, as it can redirect government resources toward the use of information technology in the public service space.

In the meantime, South Sulawesi Regional Capital Investment Coordinating Board Chief AM Yamin, who represented Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo in receiving the award, remarked that South Sulawesi is rated as one of the most attractive areas in terms of investment, infrastructure, tourism, and public services.
