Makassar, S. Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - The Ministry of Tourism is promoting the "Makassar Explore" branding, and by next month, taxis in London, UK, will carry this campaign logo.

"Next month, the Makassar Explore tourism branding campaign will start by putting it on taxis in London," Head of Promotion at Makassar`s Tourism and Creative Economy Office, Muhammad Roem, said here on Wednesday.

He stated that the campaign focusing on tourism, culture and culinary branding was being carried out by the Ministry and a number of taxis in several countries will sport the branding.

This year, Roem noted, the tourism promotion will focus on ten destinations.

For the Makassar Explore campaign, the Ministry is cooperating with the London Taxi management services. A total of 75 taxis will sport the branding.

"The promotion of Makassar is expected to pave the way for other tourist sites in South Sulawesi and surrounding regions for similarly promotion," Roem added.

Besides Makassar in South Sulawesi, the other ten tourist destinations being promoted by the Ministry are Bandung (West Java), Medan (North Sumatra), Jakarta, Banyuwangi (East Java), Riau Islands, Bali and Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara).

The other destinations are Yogyakarta, Solo and Semarang (Central Java), which have been combined into one tourism promotion package.

Another tourism promotion package combines Bunaken (North Sulawesi), Wakatobi (Southeast Sulawesi) and Raja Ampat (Papua). These regions are being promoted for their underwater scenic area under a brand of coral wonder.
