Makassar, S Sulawesi (Antara Sulsel) - The market share of sharia economy has continued to increase significantly reaching 5 percent in the middle of this year in Indonesia, according to the Sharia Economic Community of South Sulawesi.

"The people begin to show greater interest in sharia economy in South Sulawesi such as in banking, seen as a profitable intermediacy business, chairman of the Sharia Economic Community of South Sulawesi Mukhlis Sufri, said here on Thursday.

In the activities of socialization of sharia finance it is not only sharia banking that needs development, Mukhlis said, adding, there is also sharia tourism, sharia travel sharia non bank finance industry.

Therefore, it is necessary to sharpen the strategy in expanding the market share of sharia economy, he said, adding a sharia business should be set up as an institution to educate the people about sharia economy.

The strategic position of mosque, Pesantren (Islamic boarding house) and campus could be a good place for the clinic, he said.

He said the many mosques and pesantren in South Sulawesi makes a potential place for development of sharia economy.
Mosque community could be the players at the same time the market such as manager of mosque establishing sharia mini market. The condition is mosque funds are saved in sharia banks, he said.

Meanwhile, chairman of the South Sulawesi Sharia Bank Association Kamaruddin Kamisi said currently sharia banks are busy socializing sharia finance literacy.

"Certainly through persuasive approaches to the people such as socialization at elementary school, secondary high school, senior high school and university," Kamaruddin said.

He said he hope ulema could also be active in launching socialization of sharia economy in South Sulawesi.

Sharia banks also are busy in promoting services to clients as there is still big opportunity for sharia banking to expand as people of South Sulawesi could perform hajj pilgrimage 3-4 times a year.

Socialization of sharia economy and finance has been carried out under the cooperation between the Financial Service Authority (OJK) of the regions of Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua, the Sharia Economic Community (MES), and a Team of Acceleration of Regional Financial Access (TPAKD) of South Sulawesi here .

The socialization ceremony was attended by academicians, small businesses, Baitul Mal wat Tamwil (BMT), cooperatives and local Islamic organizations .
