Makassar (Antara Sulsel) - South Sulawesi recorded a 16.36 percent increase in exports to US$73.2 million in July from US$62.9 million in June.

Head of the provincial office the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Nursam Salam said increase had been recorded in demand for the main export commodity of the province.

In July , exports of nickel, the main export commodity of the province, were valued at US$46.85 million, Nursam said here on Tuesday.

Nickel exports, which contributed 64.01 percent to the province`s total exports, rose slightly in July from the previous month.

Exports of cacao, another main export earner of the province were valued at US$3.29 million in July , up from US$970,000 in June.
