Mamuju, W Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - Agriculture Minister Suswono on Saturday inaugurated West Sulawesi's new animal quarantine facility which will enable the province to improve the quality of its cattle exports.

The facility would be an institute to check the health of cattle to be exported, he said.

"Cattle-exporting countries pay much attention to the quality of cattle to be exported. If the cattle has low quality they will reject it," he said.

Therefore, the government must supervise cattle exports to maintain other countries' confidence in the Indonesian cattle, he said.

"We don't want other countries to reject our cattle merely because of low quality. Therefore, animal quarantine centers must supervise cattle exports properly to maintain the quality of our cattle," he said.

He expressed hope that West Sulawesi which had large potentials of developing cattle to increase its cattle production. (S012/f001)
