Mamuju, W.Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - The West Sulawesi provincial administration will build seven micro-hydro power plants to support industrial development and improve the local people's economy, an official said here Wednesday.
The West Sulawesi administration will build seven micro-hydro power plants in three districts Majene, Mamasa and Polewali Mandar, head of the West Sulawesi enterprises Harry Warganegara said.
He added that the provincial administration will build the power plants each with a capacity of two to three megawatts.
According to him, each megawatt of the power plants will cost Rp12,5 billion to build.
Harry who is also chairman of the West Sulawesi chamber of commerce and industry (Kadin) said the seven micro-hydro power plants were aimed at the further industrial development in the province.
"Electricity is still posing a constraint facing the provincial administration in developing the regions," Harry said.
West Sulawesi is rich with natural resources such as mining, fisheries and animal husbandry," Harry said.
According to him, if all the potentials had been developed by industry, West Sulawesi will be more advanced and the local people will become more prosperous.(T.KR-LWA/o001)
