Rantepao, S Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Mari Elka Pangestu opened the Toraja International Festival in  Toraja North district, South Sulawesi, on Saturday.

"This is a good start to promote Toraja in the eyes of the world, and this festival will become an annual event in Toraja," the minister said, adding that seven foreign countries were participating in the festival.

The seven countries include Zimbabwe, Canada, France, Kazaktan, Italy, Senegal and the United States.

According to the minister, the festival seeks to further promote Toraja throughout the world, though it is already well-known for its natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, custo, ms, and food. (INE)
