Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - An Indian automotive manufacturer, Tata Motors, is expecting to gain more customers by expanding its business in Makassar, South Sulawesi province.

The President Director of Tata Motors for Indonesia Distribution, Biswadev Sengupta, said here on Tuesday that in the second quarter of 2016-2017 (July-September), the company will focus on selling double cabin vehicle of 4X4 Tata Xenon XT D-Cab 2.21 4.4.

"As we know the market in Sulawesi, especially Makassar, has a high absorption of light truck and double cabin vehicles. The commercial vehicles ready to be marketed by Tata are Tata Ace EX2 700 cc diesel, Tata Super Ace 1400 cc diesel and Xenon D-Cab 2.200 cc diesel," Biswadev noted.

He added that PT Celebes Prima Sejahtera (CPS) has been chosen as Tata Motors main dealer in Sulawesi since it has experience in marketing vehicles.

"We are optimistic that CPS will be able to market our products in Sulawesi, particularly in Makassar," he stressed.

In South Sulawesi, the company is exploring several trading cities and districts, including Parepare, Sidrap and Pinrang.

Tata Motors plans to open a branch in Parepare by September 2016.

The plan is in line with Sulawesi Selatan`s economic sectors that are rapidly growing and need specific trading vehicles.

Tata also prepares small trucks for plantation, agriculture and fishery sectors which will be launched in August 2016.

"Our small trucks named Gajah Kecil and Tata Ace EX2 700CC diesel are suitable for fish transportation," Biswadev noted.
