Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - Exports of South Sulawesi declined 9 percent to US$102.20 million in November from US$113.62 million in October this year.

"Our trade balance showed a decline in November compared with the previous month," head of the regional office of the Central Bureau of Statistic (BPS) Nursam Salam said here on Tuesday.

The decline in exports was attributable to falling prices of major export commodities from the province including nickel, Nursam said.

He said exports of nickel from the province were valued at US$52.27 million. The nickel exports made up 51.09 percent of the total value of exports from the province.

In October, nickel exports from South Sulawesi were valued at US$57.30 million or 50.43 percent of the total value of exports from the province that month.

In the first 11 months of this year, exports from South Sulawesi were valued at US$1,027.29 million , down from US$1,301.72 million in the same period last year.

"Nickel exports made up 51.09 percent of the total export value in the January-November period," Nursam said.

Japan was the main export destination accounting for 55/26 percent of the province`s total exports in November.
