Makassar, S Sulawesi (Antaranews Sulsel) - Construction of a wind energy power plant (PLTB) now under construction in Tolo Jeneponto, South Sulawesi, is expected to be completed in June this year.

"Barring any stumbling block the project is expected to be completed in June this year or 1.5 years earlier than the original schedule in 2019," Hamid Awaluddin, the chief commissioner of PT Equies Energy Jeneponto, the developer of the project said.

The completion would be faster as work has continued uninterrupted without hindrance, Hamid said after a meeting with South Sulawesi Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo here on Thursday.

Managing Director of Technical Services of Equis Energy Daniel Astbury said so far completion had reached 58.2 percent, that by mid June the project should be completed.

The company will build 20 wind turbines of SWT-3.6-130 type , 128 meter tall each with a capacity of 3.6 megawatts (MW), Daniel said.

"The installed capacity is 72 MW, but production capacity is around 60 MW," he said

The facility will be connected with the Indonesian energy networks through a local power relay station and a 150 kilovolt transmission cable.

Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo said the power plant would add to the power supply in the region, saying, win energy is a new renewable energy with expensive in procurement but cheap in maintenance cost.
