Mamuju, West Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - Health care in Majene district, West Sulawesi province is getting much better than ever, provincial health service spokesman Ahmad Azis said here on Friday.
"Majene is now no longer troubled by health problem, because the district has reached its optimum level of health service," Ahmad noted.
He said the district ranked 221st of 435 districts in Indonesia which had been surveyed regarding their health services.
But Ahmad added that the districts of Polewali-Mandar (Polman), Mamuju, North Mamuju, and Mamasa in West Sulawesi were still having a problem with health care.
"These four districts are still facing health problem because they have not been able to fulfill the Indonesian Public Health Index," he said.
It is a composite index of 24 health indicators to determine the health development level and needs of each district in Indonesia to identify low-ranking districts which are in need of particular attention.
The index is used to inform which types of health interventions will be most helpful in each district.
Therefore, Ahmad said the province of West Sulawesi wanted the central government to help these four districts out of health care problem.
"We hope the central government will provide these four districts with adequate health care facility and infrastructure," Ahmad said. (O001/A014)
