Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA Sulsel) - Six workers instantly died of electrocution while pulling a cable near the campus of the Hasanuddin University in the South Sulawesi provincial city of Gowa on Wednesday.

The accident occurred at 4.00 p.m. central Indonesia standard time (WITA) when it was raining, a witness Jumardin stated. He further added that the bodies of the victims were then rushed to the Bayangkara hospital for conducting autopsies.

According to the witness, the six ill-fated workers pulled a live cable near the power supply substation in the area.

In addition, Public Relations Officer of the power company, PT PLN Sultanbatara, Abdul Wahab Samana remarked that he came to know about the accident only after some journalists questioned him to get a confirmation on the fatalities.

"I do not have information about the incident, I will check it soon," Abdul stated.

In the meantime, one of the public relations staff members of the Gowa police precinct Adjunct Commissioner Andryani Lilikay confirmed the fatalities, elaborating that of the six reported victims, five were male and one was a female. Bessr
