Three Killed in Tanatoraja Landslide

Makale, South Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - A landslide triggered by incessant rain killed three people and injured four others in Tanatoraja district, South Sulawesi, on Wednesday.
Sarto Ranteallo, a rescue worker at the scene, said on Thursday that the fatalities were identified as Indo Siso (70), Gerson (5), and Tato (2).
He said the three dead victims were found buried in the soil and have been evacuated.
Sarto said that the four injured victims have also been evacuated to Lakipadada hospital for an intensive treatment.
During the rainy season this month, landslides have a tendency to happen in various places across the country.
In Purbalingga district, Central Java, a landslide also killed two people on Saturday, April 23, 2011.
The two victims identified as Haryoto (38) and Yasirun (42) were cleaning a water tank when the landslide came from a hill located in the back of the village administration office, according to reliable sources.
Meanwhile, a landslide at Gadog village, Karangpawitan subdisrict, Garut district in West Java, hit and destroyed a house, killing five people last Saturday afternoon.
The five fatalities were members of one family while the fifth victim was a visiting relative.
On April 17, landslide also also killed nine people and injured eight others at Padangsari village, Ngantang sub-district in Malang, East Java.
The dead victims were identified as Suwandi (25), Suwoko (43), Sugianto (41), Alipiyo Supatin (42), Dirham Nur Abidin (32), Poniman (30), Misdianto (44), Ngasno (21) and Mulyono (30).
Other injured victims were identified as Raun (53), Ponari (36), Agung (13), Suwono (55), Lukman (11), Slamet Wahyudi (41), Nuriyanto (20) and Slamet Riyanto (21).
