Japan Confers Medals on Three Indonesian Figures

Makassar (ANTARA News) - The Japanese government has conferred medals to three Indonesian figures and a Japanese figure in fostering relations between Japan and Indonesia.

The Japanese consulate in Makassar on Monday issued a release on the three Indonesian figures, namely Puji Kuntarso, Dorodjatun Kuncoro Jakti and Saur Maruli Pohan.

Former Indonesian ambassador to Japan Puji Kuntarso received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Stars for his contribution to the promotion of relations between the two countries.

Former economic affairs coordinating minister Dorodjatun Kuncoro Jakti received the honor for his contribution to the economic development of the two countries.

The third medal, the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays, was conferred on chairman of the Chado association Saur Maruli Pohan at a Japanese traditional tea party for his contribution to promote and introduce the Chado culture and the relations between the two countries.

The Japanese figure of the first generation descendant of Machiko Kusnaeni, former producer and executive of the Japanese language section of the foreign division of Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI), received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays medal for his contribution to promote mutual understanding between Japan and Indonesia.
