Sukhoi Jet Fighters Greet President in Makassar

Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - Four Sukhoi jet fighters greeted President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in his one-day working visit to Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Tuesday.

As the Presidential Garuda Indonesia aircraft entered South Sulawesi airspace, four Sukhoi jets welcomed the president in the air and escorted the presidential plane flying at both sides to Hasanuddin airport.

The presidential aircraft landed at Hasanuddin airport at 9.30 am local time on Tuesday.

In Makassar later on, the head of state will officially open a working meeting of all governors from 33 provinces until Wednesday.

South Sulawesi Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo said on Monday that the governors would discuss the implementation of Law No. 32/2004 on regional administrations.

He said Law No. 2/1999 on Autonomy could be improved and integrated into Law No. 32/2004.

Meanwhile, South Sulawesi regional government spokesman A Muallim said on Monday that the president was also slated to launch the first iron export on Tuesday after opening the working meeting.

Muallim said the export launching was part of activities held in connection with the 341th anniversary of South Sulawesi.

In observing the anniversary, the regional government was ready to carry out a series of events.

The president will also inaugurate the Andi Mattalata ferry port in Garongkong Barru district built at a cost of Rp32 billion.

Pamatata seaport worth Rp54 billion in Selayar district will also be inaugurated by the president along with a facility of Sultan Hasanuddin international airport worth Rp548 billion, Lagalilog airport in Luwu district valued at Rp54 billion and the Trans Studo Mal and Theme Park projects.
