Mamuju, West Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - The Mamuju regency administration in West Sulawesi is in need of four Satellite Hospitals to optimize medical treatment to the poor in the area.
"This area is in need of medical health facilities for the poor in the form of a satellite hospital based on public service obligation (PSO)," head of the Mamuju regency medical center dr.Firmon said here over last Saturday.
He said the satellite hospital concept has been practiced in several areas in West Sulawesi.
"We planned to build at least four such satellite hospitals in Mamuju. If this turned out to be feasible, the regional administration will be increasingly able to provide free medical treatment to the poor," he said.
He said building satellite hospitals based on the concept will be realized with the assistance public organizations like funds for the feeble and other public organizations.
Therefore, he said, financial support of the central government is urgently expected especially in supporting the construction of a satellite hospital in Mamuju.
A satellite hospital, he said, is a hospital with its management still under the control of the Mamuju Regional Public Hospital with the same minimum service standard.
Before the building of a Satellite Hospital, he said, the government obviously needs accurate data on the poor, so that in practice a satellite hospital provides treatment really for the poor, because it is feared that the hospital is being used by the haves. (H-NG/o001)
